Meet Christian Ortiz, a Chula Vista native and proud supporter of the Chargers, Padres and Seventy1 Environmental.

ROLE: Seventy1 Environmental’s Stormwater Field Manager

Christian has been with us for five years, and has been a key player in the growth and development of our business. He is the head of our service department and manages our technicians, equipment, fleet and shop. When he’s not out walking properties, meeting managers or city inspectors, obtaining quotes from manufacturers and operating the field equipment, he’s training the crew, scheduling service routes, ordering materials and handling stormwater compliance issues.

As our Stormwater Field Manager, Christian dedicates his days to the maintenance of stormwater filtration systems. As you may know, stormwater filtration systems are designed to remove pollutants from stormwater runoff before it flows to the nearest waterway. Christian maintains, repairs, replaces and installs these systems every day.

As part of maintenance, he removes the pollutants these systems have collected and disposes of them properly. He sees firsthand what is coming off of road ways and parkings lots and entering the storm drains of Southern California.

With his experience in stormwater, he is now able to pass that information on to others in the community that are unaware of how they might be contributing to stormwater pollution. For example, if he sees someone littering a cigarette, he often stops to kindly educate them on where the cigarette is bound to end up. When onsite at a property, he lets tenants and visitors know what type of service we are performing and why.

Let us count the ways…. What’s not to love about this guy! He has a huge heart. He’s extremely loyal and kind. Everyone that meets Christian likes him. He’s just an all-around friendly guy. His work ethic, integrity and loyalty are at the top of the charts. He doesn’t just get the job done; he doesn’t leave until it’s done completely right.

Christian takes pride in his work and takes care of the things that matter to him. We see it in the way he keeps the shop organized and tidy. The way the trucks are always clean and serviced. The way the field equipment is maintained. And the way the stormwater systems operate on every property he touches.

Christian is a dedicated sports fan and looooovvvves his Chargers. He’s also a family man to his lovely wife Rene and their two sweet boys. This year Christian is coaching his son’s t-ball team for the first time!

PS. Today, it’s Christian’s birthday!

Happy Birthday, Christian! Thank you for doing what you do and being you!
